Dog Boarding Question
New to the forum, first thread, hello everyone.
So my wife and I were looking at boarding kennels for our 3yo male. We left him at one spot for 3 days and it seems like a traditional kennel; dog has his own run, gets out twice during the day to stretch his legs. It was clean and the owners were professional.
But, we were curious if there were something better for our upcoming vacation. We found a kennel and they do some things we like - the dog is out of the run all day in a fenced-in field with other dogs (supervised, grouped based on 'personality'). The place is very clean and seems like a professional operation.
However, they 'exercise' the dogs by leashing them to an ATV and running them on trails....we told them this is not something we would want and they said no problem, no running.
Then, if the dog 'misbehaves' they put an e-collar on them. Misbehavior is something as minor as nuisance barking. Our dog has not been trained with an e-collar nor do I think the shock of this new stimuli would be good for him (he's kind of a wimp).
Would you board a dog at a place like this, even if they tell you they won't do those things you find questionable after making a request? It's not like he can tell me what went on when I go pick him up to verify...
We live in eastern CT, if anyone has recommendations.
