I'd like to throw in some general knowledge and maybe a personal experience or two with the subject that I briefly went into in the other thread.
To consider a suicide victim selfish to me is selfish in itself. It shows that someone would rather sit and play the blame game rather than taking any time at all to look into what might have caused it. There is something beyond 'just being sad' or 'weak' that causes someone to consider taking their own life.
Mental illness isn't something you can just 'get over', it's also something that might not be noticeable to those around them. To feel absolutely stuck, or worthless, or helpless is a place no one wants to be in - And some people unfortunately are never able to get the help they need. There is nothing selfish about wanting to get out of a miserable state of mind by ending it all - Even if it's not the best way, for some people it seems like the only way.
While it is a horrible event for the people close to them, it helps to understand why it might have happened. You can be angry at them, you can hate them - It's very hard not to at some point - But please take the time to research and understand mental illness so you may be able to help others that are in similar situations.
