Friend picked up a stray today, and she's far in over her head. He's some kind of mastiff/pit mix, and about six months. He's unaltered, but he does have an appointment to get him fixed.
The problem is, he has extreme separation anxiety. If my friend leaves the room, he howls his head off and claws at whatever is separating them.
When they're in the backyard, he stays by her side, and shoves to get inside first, just so she doesn't leave him alone. She's tried putting him in a large kennel, six by ten, but he just screams his head off, tried to let him roam with a chain in the fenced backyard, and when he screamed again, she left him loose in the yard. He cracked her back door trying to get inside.
However, when anyone tries to go out the front door, he's right there, trying to escape. If you hold him back, he will literally bite you to get out.
She does, of course, have to leave for work tomorrow, and she's worried to leave him alone. Another friend loaned her a large crate, and we're working on getting him used to it.
We're trying the whole treats/happy voice thing, but he is just not having it. She'll only be gone for about twenty minutes tomorrow, since her boss is going to let her work at home for the next week, she just has to get her supplies.
Amy suggestions? Thanks guys!
