I am currently taking care of the shop. It's kind of my sister's shop. My mom opened it many years ago, but when she got sick I started keeping it open on Saturdays while I was working.
Right now, I am trying to keep it open pretty much full time, and work for my sister on Sundays. But evenso, since I was a kid, I always did a lot of stuff at the same time.
When I was 15, I was taking my junior and my senior year in high school, baby sat every weekend for about 40 hours, cooked dinner every night so my parents could get home from work, eat, and then be out the door to school by 5 PM. Afterwhich time, I watched my younger siblings until my parents came home at 10:30.
At 10:30, I would go for a walk, and then come home in time to watch The Streets of San Franciso at 12, and the Hawaii 5-0 at 1. After that I would start homework. LOL.
My mom used to call up to me in the morning, "Are you going to school today?" I would call back, maybe later. I would always make it to my 11 o'clock history class. I usually made it to Sr. English -- 3rd period. I would only make it to Jr. English and Accounting 2 if I had a test or essay/project due. I don't know how I aced those classes. The rest of the schedule was tougher, and I went to those classes.
At 18, I would ride my bike all night one night, stay up all night the next night doing homework, finished my 2 year degree and worked 12 hour shifts on the weekends. And I worked regular hours during the week at a used book shop that my sister and I opened when I was 17.
When I went back to school after 5 years in the work force, I was working full time, would travel half an hour to work, work all day, go from there an hour and a half to Youngstown, and get to school by 5:30 or 5:50, and stay until 9:30 or 10:30, then drive an hour home. Do that four nights a week for a full load, and be to work every morning by 7AM. On fridays, I worked 7:00-3:30 and then back at 6PM to 10PM and then worked half a day on Saturday.
I was working full time, when I trained and titled six dogs in a year.
I used to get bored and ride my bike all night, or I used to ride it 18 miles each way to work.
Now, I am pretty much slacking. My old girls just don't need any training. I take them out, and they are good. I take them to the park with the little girls, and teach them how to handle them. I have a couple of youngsters that could use more work. But mostly they are pretty easy to manage. My knee is messed up, now, but I can keep up with the little girls, and my sister keeps them busy.
