The problem is becoming worse and worse
So I did post about this before but didn't get anywhere with it. I also haven't provided enough info.
I have a 4 month old German Shepherd. Our Mon-Fri routine looks like this:
I get up 4:20AM to take him out to back yard so he can do his business. Pretty much the next 30-35 mins he is laying down by the doors relaxing until I am ready to go to work. I put him in the cage. My wife let's him out at 6AM for about 40 mins and puts him back in the cage. He stays in crate at home from pretty much 6:30am until 4:00pm. He totally adopted to the create. I am in process of building screen porch for him where he will be freely able to run around in when we're at work. When I get back from work I let him out immediately, play with him, we play fetch, tag. Then around 6:40 PM we go for a walk which now involves decent amount of running. We get home. I keep him in back yard. Have him relax, calm down, drink, eat. Now the big issue, I let him inside he becomes completely different dog. He wont sit\stand still for even 10 seconds and I'm not exaggerating. What he does is he walk around the dinning room table looking for things to break\bite. If he finds something, obviously, its something he shouldn't be biting on like flowers, table. chair. So I immediately tell him NO. HE KNOWS he shouldn't be doing it so he runs away soon as I get up. I chase him around the house like a clown for 2 mins until I catch him because he is holding remote control. I take it back, he goes again, looks for crap. I get more frustrated and that's when it starts. He comes to me, bites me, i hold him by his collar and kind of shake it and tell him NO. He does it again and again with biting me. When I shake his collar, he stops and starts again 5 seconds later. We go through this until he really pisses me off and then I either put him on the leash at home and MAKE him sit by my legs. That usually doesn't end well either because he gets up bites. At that point, I'm frustrated and usually let him out. I dont want to pull the leash each time until he totally freaks out. Or should I? I Let him calm down and put him in the cage. Now, if I do bring a toy home and have him chew on that, he wont get the point across. He will think it's play time. What I am trying to do is train him not to go insane at home, bark and bite us. I dont want him to think bringing a toy home means me holding the toy for him so he can bite on it for the next 30 mins. By the way, If I did bring him a toy he will play with it for 1 minute and get bored. Then I have to play with him otherwise we're gong back to the biting running around the house.
I am also having a feeling when I sit down, he likes to come over and bark and bite me. Inside or outside. When we are out playing fetch, ball etc... he is fine. We play, we have fun, no biting happens then, he listens when I tell him sit, down (sometimes)
What the **** is wrong here? What should I do? Any training suggestions? He is also starting not to listen to me unless I have a treat in my hands. He wont sit lay, stay sometimes unless I have something for him. He understands the commends but he is just playing with us.
Am I expecting too much from a 4 month old GS? Is this a puppy stage? Anyone else having the home issues like I do?
