I started off in the picture thread with my GSD/BC pup Bear, but now it's my turn.
I live in Wisconsin, originally hail from Michigan. Have been around dogs all my life and the last year and a half was the longest I've been without a dog. I was raised around Coon Hounds, Beagles, a Border Collie and a GSD but as far as personal ownership goes, I've loved and owned a Cocker Spaniel, Dobey and a Min-Pin. My last 2 dogs were the Dobey and Min-Pin whom I bought within a month of each other back in 1998. They were the best of friends, truly. My big lug Zeus passed away in 2006 due to liver cancer and my sweet little Xena was laid to rest in May of 2012 at the age of 14. Two of the hardest events I've ever had to endure in my life thus far. I took a hiatus from dog ownership until August of this year when I became the happy new friend to Bear, my GSD/BC.
One thing that stands out about my childhood was a dog we had when I was around 6. HIS name was Kelley and he was the most wonderful dog on the planet to a 6 year old. He was able to love, protect and put up with 3 young girls constantly poking, prodding, squeezing, riding and pulling. Through it all, he was a very patient, loving and protective friend. Not one aggressive bone in his body towards our advances, even if they were unwanted. Kelley happened to be a GSD...which has lead me to where I am today, with Bear revisiting the good old GSD days again. I know he's not a Kelley, but I hope he will be half as loyal and kind to others as Kelley was to this girl and her 2 sisters and leave just as big of an impression.
