Ok, so there's this baby who sees Tori, and with bright eyes, comes rushing over to see the doggy. Tori is a 78.5 pound big GSD bitch. I have a CGC on her, that I probably wouldn't have given her if I was doing the judging. But she passed. I actually promised never to take her to a show again if she passed that last leg on the day. She did, and I held to that promise. It has been 5 years since she was really out and about, socializing with people or dogs. I body blocked the kid and and told the lady behind the counter, I did not know how she would be with a baby.
She would have been fine. I am sure now. But, well, I just won't prove that on someone's kid. The lady with the kid, had just had her second and she works there, and they must have had some sort of shower, she came in and got her kid away from the drooling, bloodthirsty, child-eating GSD. Not really, but she had never met Tori. I think the last time she was at the vet was her 4 year old shots.
Anyway, the lady behind the counter was on the phone with someone who's dog was currently in surgery. They were chatting about how the dog was doing, how cute the dog was, a blow by blow description of the dog's stay that morning. And I was waiting. Patiently. Did I mention I was fasting? Yeah, that effects my level of tolerance, but I waited for her to hang up.
And then I said, "I think I have an emergency here." The lady looked at me kind of blankly and then said, "Oh." She told me that the vet was in surgery. I said, we could wait until she came out of surgery to see what she said about the eye. Well, she looked at it closely and then went and told the vet what I had, came up and set me up to see the vet at 2:50. It was almost 12 so I thought, I could get the bloodwork done in between. To be continued.
