My step-son's school is only 1,000 kids for 4 different years, so there are only 4 say Grade 9 advanced math classes for the year. They hold the completed tests until all classes for that semester are marked, but then give them back. It's also frequently different tests given to each individual class and they change year to year. College and University, it was quizzes and mid-term and finals, but no real testing through-out the year, except mid and final, more papers and modules that you did and were handed back graded.
I'd have a big issue in high school if I were not seeing the tests, I'd be irritating the teacher to see them to see where my child was struggling.
