Our six year old male, Rafi, suffered three herniated discs last week. Despite good pre op prognosis he had suffered a large hematoma compressing L4-S1, resulting in paraplegia. Mentally he is as sharp and loving as he ever was. Scared and depressed from being in the hospital over a week.We are taking him home tomorrow and plan to try our best to continue his happy membership in our family of a two year old female GSD, a nine year old female pit/X.
Our surgeon commends us on our plan to nurse him post op, keep him clean, express his bladder, and train him for an Eddie's Wheels cart. I see so many on you tube, it must be possible, yet he paints a very grim picture.
Has anyone had experience with this kind of situation?
