You can start some "Nose Work" games.
*Get several different size boxes.
*Also get one tiny size box, with an opened top, for the treat box, that you can place the treat into but will fit into the other boxes.
*Scatter different size/shapes/color boxes in an area placing them upside down, on their sides, tipped, etc.
*Put puppy in another room
*Put a good smelling treat into the treat box with opened lid.
*Now, place the treat box inside one of the other boxes.
(Make it easy for several sessions and then increase the difficulty slightly as you see progression.)
*Go in room and put puppy on a leash and give it a word/words....."Find It", "Seek" etc. and tell puppy "Find it"!
*Take him by the boxes and let him sniff around until he locates it.
*As soon as he finds it, PRAISE lavishly while adding additional treats directly and quickly into the treat box and let him get them! If he has a hard time, help him by directing him to the correct box. Never let him fail.
*Put him back into the room, and hide the treat box in another box.
*And repeat from above.
Increase area size, number of boxes, etc., even put a box on the couch when he gets good at it!
As soon as he gets the hang of it, he'll be screaming in the other room while you are hiding the treat!
They LOVE this game and because they are sniffing a lot it tires them out!
Let us know if he likes it!
