I'm not sure what happened, but my dog (almost a year and a half old) is suddenly very worried about the vacuum, I noticed it after it was shut off and I was wrapping the cord up. It's while it's shut off, so I don't understand what is bothering her about it.
She used to bring it her toys while I was vacuuming
, so this is kind of unusual behaviour for her.
Also, I have had it parked in the corner of my living room for a few weeks while she was blowing her coat (vacuumed almost daily), so she's quite used to it being around. I can't imagine she's had a bad experience with it.
Has something like this happened to anyone before? Isn't she a little old for having a fear stage? Do you think she'll get over her fear as fast as it came? I'm not sure what's up and I'm trying not to make it a big deal so she will hopefully forget to worry about it.
How can I get her more comfortable with it? I tried sitting by it and offering treats, but I was hard pressed to get her within 3' of it. It was a little better rolling her ball by it, but you could tell she was trying to find a way to snatch her ball away while keeping as much distance as possible.
I don't know why this started, she used to follow it around to see if it was trying to steal her toys before??
It's not the sound that's bothering her, but the vacuum itself.
