I digress, what I did though is create a huge list of a hotels along the way that allow pups using this website;
BringFido.com - Pet Friendly Hotel & Dog Travel Directory
(There is also an app for iPhone
And what I have found is that some places say yes they allow dogs but there is a weight limit (40lbs or so)so be aware of that and glad that you are boarding because most do not allow the dog to be alone in the room -even crated.
Heh, and I thought 9 hours was bad! We used to drive 21-24 hours to Florida every year when I was younger, that drive is harsh, lol. I have been checking on bringfido.com! And did quickly realize that PETS ALLOWED, most times meant 'small' pets. Did find a few though, the Hilton, and a few other expensive hotels, ironically. And yep, thats the reason why I am boarding him (well one of them anyways) I dont want to chance it with him whining for me (sometimes he does, especially if he thinks I am leaving him in this strange room forever and NEVER coming back, dramatic...
) Other reason is because I would feel really anxious about something happening, since maids and what not can go in there. Not risking it! Good luck with your drive and trip!
