This is my foster dog. I have had him for less than 3 weeks. It is my understanding that his family surrendered him, because he had diarrhea and had accidents in the house. Funny how that happened, since he mostly lived in the garage. He is 8 years old. I would assume this was fairly new, or he wouldn't have lasted 8 years in that home. He was eating something like Pedigree, before.
He came to me with the squirts, but has had ZERO accidents in my house. I was giving him pumpkin and a mixture of All Bran Cereal and ground beef. I added in Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream. There was improvement, but then he regressed. He only goes 2-3 times per day. It is not diarrhea. He is not sick. Negative for parasites an giardia. Just soft stool. I should add he was on a 10 day course of Doxy for kennel cough. That could have caused the relapse. I was adding plain Greek yogurt, but that didn't seem to help, so I stopped. As of Thursday evening, I started feeding him only the pumpkin, All Bran, and ground beef. Worked like a charm. Stools are solid. This evening, I added 1/2 a cup of Wellness Simple Salmon and potato to the mix. Watching for the results. LOL!
He is going to an adoption event tomorrow. I would like to have this figured out, before he is adopted. Sadly, I have dealt with the sensitive tummy issues with too many dogs to think it will be a quick fix.
Thanks for the input. Again....Amount to feed? 3 cups, is not too much?
