I adopted my GSD from a local shelter in April. He was already microchipped and was registered as a puppy. I am curious to know if there is a way to find out more about where he came from with his microchip number. I was able to find his date of birth, date he was registered and the company the microchip came from (Microchip Identification Systems in Folsom, LA). Looking at where the chip came from would lead me to believe he was microchipped from the breeder, as the only single microchip kits I found were the ones for travel. All the others were multi-packs. Like for breeders, shelters and vets. Since he was registered at such an early age, 8 weeks, I can only assume he came from a breeder. Of course, I may be wrong about that.
Basically, to get to the point, is there a way to use his microchip number to identify where he came from?
*His previous owners were contacted, but no longer wanted him. I can't imagine why not, though. He's beautiful, has high drive, super smart...just a great boy. But...maybe they couldn't handle his drive.*
A picture for good measure.
