I agree keeping the wound as clean as possible, watch closely for necrosis (I also know a dog who dealt with that, it was diabetic to boot so not pretty...) and make sure to finish any antibiotics given.
Hopefully he'll heal fast and lots of mind games to keep his mind busy while his body rests and heals. Frozen raw bones, stuffed kongs, puzzles, etc. A good fun trick is hiding a treat under one of three upturned cups and having them indicate which cup the treat is under. I can't remember the Youtube video I used at the moment but it's a favourite game of Delgado's and doesn't require any physical movement outside of them touching their nose to the cup. It can be done lying down as well
