After spending a night at a friends place where she also has dogs, my 5 month old pup appears to have come down with something. From everything I know about kennel cough, it looks a lot like that, though her two dogs didn't appear to be presenting any symptoms of it?
Thor has this hacking cough that that turns into dry heaving, which started at about 2 in the morning, and I was up all night with him. He also has a runny nose. He isn't lethargic at all, still a bouncy playful puppy who is eating well, drinking lots, and having normal poops. But man does this cough sound alarming, he sounds like a honking goose.
He was vaccinated for bortadella (though after reading some, I've learned it's not overly useful in actually preventing it.) We have a vet appointment later today, so hopefully I'll have a confirmed diagnosis, and a treatment plan. But as he is sick, I'm wondering about how much I should be exercising him and whether I should be walking him still, as I don't want him to spread this to other dogs in the community, and how long I should keep him away from other dogs?
