Yup tiring out a dog with a flirtpole is a great tool!
I just had to learn to be more gentle with her, and i do big circles and also i train with her.
I have her sit, down, wait, come, spit, leave it, etc. its a great tool because she LOVES it and will do anything for it really, unlike treats and other toys.
The thing i had to be aware of and STOP was having it high where she wants to jump to get it (she loves to jump up to get it, but i really do not want her to do it because of her joints and hips), and also quick turns and stops are bad idea. I tend to walk 80-100 feet away and then have her run for it and i make sure she doesnt have to stop suddenly, or i try! Just be aware of what is too much. Apparently some people can do a hour of flirtpole, Zelda cant do more than 15-20 minutes of flirtpole.
Great post! I look forward to see what other people do with their flirtpoles!
