I knew something was wrong with Dexter before 5 months because he didnt like other dogs playing near his rear end. We got X-rays at 6 months to diagnose it though. He's doing very well after his 8 shot treatment of Adequan. As you can see from my profile pics, he lets my maltipoo climb all over his rear end..lol. I take him every 2 weeks for another shot and give him glucosamine with msm every day.Now he lets me rub him around the area without flinching. Runs very fast around the dog park with other dogs and doesnt seem to be in pain like before. im not saying its a miracle because im being skeptic and still hoping for the best. He may still need surgery down the line, but for right now I can see good changes in him as hes getting older. Surprisingly the popping sound only comes from the good hip now? I don't know if its because he's getting older and things aren't as loose, but I told my vet I'm going to wait on surgery and take some more X-rays down the road.
I would tell your friend, what people on this site advised me to do about glucosamine and give the puppy more time.
P.s. we also did the laser therapy for pain management and inflamation instead of Rimadyl
