This article crossed my FB feed a few days ago. Going through it, I cant say I really objected to much of it. If it helps steer clear people who cant handle the breeds without real dog experience prior, I'm happy. The Akita's and chows are DEFINITELY breeds no first time owner, IMO, needs to even consider. Heck, most experienced dog owners wouldn't consider those two breeds without some sort of experience previously. Its one thing to get a GSD without any previous experience with the breed or dogs in general and actually be determined to train and socialize properly and put in the time but the majority who get the breed(s) listed, want the perfect dog right out the gate and assume certain breeds are born already perfectly trained. Perhaps I'm just hard on new potentials after seeing so many dogs end up in the shelter I did my externship at because they were first time owners that had no idea what they'd gotten themselves into.
The more people I meet and talk to,the more I love my dogs and their intelligence.
