fence aggression leads to other aggressive behavior?
My girlfriend and I both have GSDs mine will be 11 months in a week and hers will be 2 yrs old on Christmas day. I watched her dog (Auddie) this summer while she was away doing veterinarian school stuff. Auddie is a sweet girl who just loves people and has never been dog aggressive before which is surprising bc she did get attacked by a pitbull as a puppy. My backyard has a regular fence and next door and behind me both have smaller dogs. The neighbors next door have two little dogs and they like to bark and run along the fence. My dog doesn't bark when that happens she just runs along the fence with them.
When Auddie is out with those dogs she would go up and down the fence line growling and barking aggressively (her hair would be all bristled up too). So I always made it a point to never let her out when.tge neighbor dogs were out. I also at one point took Auddie over to meet one of the neighbor dogs and she did real well with it. Auddie and I would go on runs and she would always pull when she saw another dog. During one run a little Jack Russell got out from.the fence and came growling and barking at us and of course Auddie got aggressive with it but they both maintained distance from one another until the owner came and got the Jack Russell.
Well a few weeks ago my girl comes back home and moves back up to school (she is in vet med school) and.her roommate has a little dog and Auddie went right after it. She was at a dog park yesterday and Auddie was doing well than all of sudden turned into a jerk again. I have no idea what has happened to her but she is definitely a different dog now. I brought up to my girlfriend that she should get Auddie's thyroid looked bc.I.have read on here that could be causing all this. She said that isn't the problem bc there would be other symptoms that she isn't showing. Help!! What do we do?
