Grabbed a frog/toad
Just my luck, my dogs usually do something crazy at night or during the holidays!
Coming back from work over half an hour ago I saw my dog grabbing something and dropping it like it was nasty or something, twice. And then shaking and licking his lips like he didn't like the taste. I ran to see what it was an in the dark I saw a frog or toad, I don't know about them but it seemed smallish, around 3-4 inches? I got my dog away from it and I poked with a broom the frog that was belly up , and it got up and hopped away!! I pushed it outside and far from my yard with the broom.
Then I ran to google frogs and dogs, found out they can be toxic. Some time had passed but I grabbed a couple of paper towels and dampened them and rubbed them on his lips and gums.teeth, got new ones and even rubbed his tongue, I don't know.
Frogs or toads are not that common here, I rarely see one so I have no clue! Why do these things always happen to me after vet hours? There's no ER vet like in the US. They claim to have an emergency number and they never answer!
I read giving peanut butter helps but I don't have any.
And also it was his dinner time!!
So now I don't know if I should feed him or not. I read the symptoms to look for, but I don't know if they happen immediately or how long should I watch them?
