Ok this potty training thing seems like its brain surgery. What am I doing wrong?!? So hank is crated while we sleep and when we are at work.. I know there will be accidents for a while until he is completely potty trained (if we ever get to that point!!!) At first, I had half his crate with a bed, toys, food and water and the other half a puppy pad with a towel on top of it in case he needed to go potty. He would only ever pee in his crate and it was always only on the towel. I was told if I keep the towel there, it kinda defeats the purpose of potty training and to take it out. So I did, and now he goes potty on his bed. What should I do? Put it back? He normally wakes us up twice during the night to go potty (with the pad in and with the pad out) but when we are at work, he is crated for maybe 6-7 hours (don't give me a hard time about that, dogs can go longer in the crate and we are in the process of getting a trusted friend to come over and let him out) but should I leave water in the crate during the day for him? And should I put the towel back????
Also, when we are home, he will sometimes have accidents in the house. He will either use the potty pad on the floor or he won't and he will go on the floor. Also, (do I tell him no when he actually uses the potty pad?) We take him out about every hour but yet he still potties inside. It is driving me crazy. At what point will he learn to sit by the door or tell us he needs out? It's only been a week and a half but I am getting so frustrated and I'm starting to think I am doing everything wrong. Please give me some advice! I am loosing it!
