Bilateral Nasolacrimal Occlusion
I took my pup to the vet today a) to get weighed so I can buy his heartworm preventative, and b) because his eyes are always watery. What I found out was that he has bilateral nasolacrimal occlusion: basically his ducts don't drain from his eyes into the nasal passage as they should. The performed a test where they put a little dye in his eyes to see if it drains out his nose as it should. It doesn't.
Has anyone had experience with this? Is there anything that can be done?
My vet gave me a round of antibiotic ointment to use in his eyes but wanted me to be realistic. The chances of it helping are not very good. He says it is only cosmetic and doesn't hurt the dog but I hate it! I'm constantly wiping his eyes.
