I have given my 1 year old cat that I adore to my mom due to a divorce and she isnt properly taking care of him. I have plans to bring him back home, but I have a 10 week old German Shepherd puppy here!
The two have met at my mother's. The cat (Jimmy) has approached Ben, and has never hissed but has batted at Ben when he barked and bowed, trying to play. Jimmy's back was not arched and claws were not out.
I take this as a good sign.
But Im scared my cat will claw the puppy if he gets too rough. How do I make and keep the proper setting for Jimmy to not react in this way?
Jimmy will be sleeping in my bed, while Ben in a crate. When I go to school, should I keep them in seperate rooms, or in the same with Ben being in a crate? Should I never allow them together, or should I always have Ben on a leash outside the crate? Approximently how long will it take for them to be safe alone?
Thank you SO much.
