Intact male growth / calorie increase need after 2 years old.
Hunter is 2 years and 3 months old now and intact, and he recently got very skinny (during our vacation) and started requiring a pretty significant increase in food. He has always been food motivated, but lately he has been incredibly hungry. Never has he refused to exit his crate when given his release command, and after I firmly call him out he will lick his bowl and hover over it. He is ravenous when he eats, but to my relief is starting to put weight back on at a normal rate... but wow, is he ever hungry! It kind of breaks my heart that he ate almost 2 lbs of meat for the second time today (3-4 lb total a day), then he comes to me and seemingly begs for more food. (Walks from his bowl, lays his head on the couch beside me, goes back to his bowl, comes back and stares at me.)
May have to start throwing some cooked veggies like green beans and sweet potato in if he's still hungry after a full bowl of raw. I don't want to overfeed him, but can't stand to think he's hungry and would eat more if left to his own devices. My poor hungry beast! His chest is expanding and dropping and all that fun stuff that accompanies a young intact male!
Edit: He doesn't have any internal parasites, btw.
