Hey all! Little bit of trouble with River recently. We went to our local GSD club this weekend and things didn't go quite as planned. She had/has always been a bit wary of bigger dogs, barking at them and what not. Anyway, on Sunday we were at the club just watching and waiting to talk to some people and a bouncy puppy came over River instantly started barking and lunging (both dogs on leashes) I removed her from the situation and she simmered down.
Next stop a friendly older shepherd. River started off well... Nose to nose, couple of face licks and then she got down into playing stance, dancing around and the older shepherd was quite enamoured. But then River started to curl her lips and get a bit too big for her britches. We separated them. She's starting to bark and odd noises (certain bass lines through the tv, certain voices, shadows on chairs those things) I'm concerned she's fearful/aggressive. She has been well socialised with other dogs due to puppy school and walks, she just always barked at them. Obviously I would correct her, but now I'm worried that its not going to be able to be fixed. One of the instructors at the club said that her sire's line can be like this... I don't know if it's lacking confidence, or too much confidence, I'm not sure. The club said they are willing to help me, but I'm concerned. Is this true agression, or an uneasy pup?
