6 Week Old
Hi all, new to the forum and new to the breed. Sunday we picked up a puppy who turned 6 weeks old yesterday. I understand he is extremely young and will have seperation problems due to being apart from his mom and litter.
I took him to the vet on Sunday after picking him up, I picked 6 fleas off of the little man on the way. The vet checked him out and a pretty good overall bill of health. They gave him medication for worms as he had a little pot belly. Sure enough, later that night he had dirreah and passed worms.
However, with him being so young, from my understandings, we can't vacinate him (which means difficulties potty training since he can't go outside & hard to socialize with others) or give him any flea treatments? We tried Dawn dish soap, however it didn't seem to work both times. Last night he had quite a bit on his face and head. The local vet said not to use Advantix, but to use Advantedge. Also with the age, we can't take him outside to use the restroom due to being so seceptible to parvo or any other issues.
He LOVES to nibble (the area rug, the couch, the entertainment center or my fingers). I know, the joys of a puppy!
What are some good training tips? I read that if he starts to bite me, I should put my finger on his gum?
Any guidance and help would be greatly appreciated!
