Italian pastry - like cannoli, there are others I do not know the name of, light flaky and not sweet. I wish I could go to Little Italy in NY, nothing like what I got there is sold in CA.
We have a lot of strawberry farmers close by so they are used in a great chocolate strawberry shortcake cake at one bakery, and strawberry chocolate cream puffs at another.
A passed down dessert are peach dumplings which are boiled, not baked. Its dough formed around a whole peach. Serve with melted butter cinnamon and sugar, or add cottage cheese for a nice lunch.
