Berlin is a 13 month old intact male. He is very well behaved for an intact male, I cant complain really. Just wondering when those derpy teenage boy moments are gonna minimize and he'll be able to focus better on the task at hand around intact dogs/bitches, and not care so much about sniffing *every* pee spot.
He is also super sniffy on walks still, despite me correcting it. I just keep on walking too, but sometimes if he has a *really* good sniff, I have to drag him away.
Yep, he does the whole drooling, teeth chattering thing, and looks hilarious. I let him sniff on walks sometimes, but he's a little out of control! lol When do the testosterone levels go down to adult male levels?
We went to a lure coursing event this past weekend, and since there was a conformation show going on along with it, ALL the dogs were intact. He did extremely well, no barking at dogs, no trying to get over to them to sniff butts, or whatever. Just REALLY obsessive with the pee, and unable to focus on the task at hand. Understandably, this was ALOT to ask of his 13 month old male brain, but just wondering when he'll mature, or if this goes away with maturity.
Not to mention, I am embarrassed for him. He cannot 'mark' to save his little furry butt. He lifts his leg SO high, misses the tree, and marks either his leg, belly, or the ground.
LOL. This is what happens when you live with only a female. Poor guy.
Another thing I noticed, on our walk the other day, he kinda like rubbed his butt on an evergreen tree....and then stood there and squirted liquid from his BUTT?! From his anal glands I am assuming? So whats the difference between that and pee marking? Geez, having your first (intact!) boy dog sure is an adventure.
Thanks for the help.
