A question for you behaviorists
A lot of times on this board I have seen people comment about what a particular dog behavior means. I have owned 3 dogs in my adult life and each behaves differently. I would love if someone could explain what each of their behaviors mean.
Dog 1: female bc/aussie. She lived to be 16 years old and barked at almost everything that went past the house - unless I told her to be quiet because the baby was sleeping. But she never barked at us to tell us she wanted anything. When I would walk her and we passed other dogs she never barked if they barked first, but always barked if they did not bark. She was always friendly to every dog if we got up close.
Dog 2: male Aussie (12 yo). He doesn't bark as much at stuff outside, but he barks at us if he wants us to do something. On a walk he only barks if the other dog barks first. He is generally friendly but sometimes is completely disinterested in other dogs.
Dog 3: male GSD(1 yo). He rarely ever barks. When he does it seems sometimes like it is out of the blue. He has never shone any aggression toward any dog or person.
I would appreciate any info on whether they are or have exhibited fearful behaviors. Thanks.
