Hello everyone, maybe I'm being overly concerned but my pup at six months seems really small. His dad is 100lbs and mom 75lbs with the male, per the breeder, having mostly the dominant traits.
I was hoping he was going to be on the larger side 80+ lbs. but I don't know if that is going to happen. I've read that raw fed dogs grow slower than kibble fed but is that all that's going on? He doesn't show signs of being too skinny, ie can't see his ribs and his waist isn't overly small. I've been feeding his a balanced raw diet too. Is it possible that kibble fed dogs grow faster and ultimately larger than raw fed dogs or would the two eventually be the same size? I know you want your dog to grow slowly in care for his joints but I don't want to hinder his ability to reach his full potential in size. His brother from an earlier litter (uncle's dog) was about 15lbs heavier at the same time and he fed a mixture of kibble and raw longer than I did before going to only raw.
I know I'm rambling but should I consider introducing him to a kibble diet in order to get more size out of him while he is still going through the majority of his growing?
Thanks for your input. Here's a picture of him for your time.
