I'm quite uncertain how to label this. When we hike with sabo I have a pack with water for us and him and a bowl. It can be rather warm 80-95. We stop ever so often (about every quarter mile) because he wants to rest which is fine, and we offer him small amounts of cool water. Is this ok? I'm terrified of bloat!!! He also starts panting at the very beginning of the hike- ears are forward and tail is going and he's sniffing like mad, so I don't think it's stressed/fear panting.
How do I know when he's panting just to sweat (cause I'm usually sweating 1/2 mile in from the sun) or panting because he's over heated? Like I said he get very small amounts of water and sometimes he won't even drink it, so I make sure to get his belly wet to cool off.
How much panting is too much?
