Just something I thought I would share...
My daughter, who just turned 4, and I are going to see, play with and pick out our puppy tomorrow. She's been extremely excited and has surprised me in more ways than one involving our new pup.
When I placed an order for all of our supplies for Maximus and they arrived at home. Brianna and I unboxed all of the items. She asked me to show her how each one worked, so she would know how to use it when Max came home. Her two favorites were the flirt pole and flexi leash. She even made me pretend to be a puppy and hold onto the flexi leash so she could figure out how to lock it, etc... so cute
But what really surprised me and I'm still not sure how she figured this out is this... I had to take a shower Saturday morning. And she asked if she could go on the computer while I took a shower. She likes watching the nursery rhyme, counting, ABC's, etc... video clips and it keeps her engaged so I can take a shower and not worry about what she's getting into.
Well... I take my shower, dry off, put on a towel and go to check on her and make sure she's okay. Well... I walk into my office and she's watching a video on clicker training! I stood there for a minute in shock, not saying anything and watched her, watching the video intently and following the hand movements of the person in the video! They were training bite inhibition. I asked her what she was doing and she said she was watching videos so she could learn how to train Maximus because she is going to be his new mommy (which I told her) and wants to learn how to train him the right way!
I couldn't believe it... she made me so proud of her at that moment, it brought a tear to my eye.

I picked her up, gave her a huge hug and kiss and told her that I loved her and that she makes me proud to be her daddy!
She turned 4 in January and some of the things she says and does just astound me. And what really perplexes me, is how in the world did she go from watching nursery rhymes to finding a video on how to use a clicker in bite inhibition training! Later, I looked at the history on the browser and she actually watched 3 other dog training videos while I was in the shower.
We're going to take Maximus to the local IPO club for training and while I know she's only 4, she tells me that she want to go with me to learn how to and to train Max. I think it will be a great way for all 3 of us to bond and I really think my daughter will have a blast. She also told me that Max can't go in for her shots unless she's there to hold him, because he will be scared and will want his mommy to hold him while he's getting his shots

She such a wonderful little girl and I consider myself a very lucky dad!
