While I agree that latest generations need to be looked at & studied, I also think it is prudent to pay attention to what's behind them. They(recent generations) all got their traits(good & bad) from somewhere & I like knowing from who/where.
As someone that has not been around the block that many times, it's harder for me to have(or know those with) "hands on" info regarding the dogs further back in pedigrees. That's why I ask for others input & try to do as much research as I can. I like filling in the blanks as much as possible, before making any decisions.
