Hi all,
We're looking to adopt a GSD and this morning we met Prince. He's not for us, but he really deserves a perfect home!
Prince is a year old purebred American line GSD. He's a nice size, about 80lbs and I
believe he has papers.
Apparently his owners paid a huge amount of money for him, but they stuck him in a back yard, rarely interacted with him and didn't let him in the house. He would sit in the yard and watch his owners inside with their 'pet' dog and, because he was under-stimulated, started tail chasing/chewing and so they gave him up.
The shelter he's at has done a really good job of socialising him and he gets on well with other dogs and kids, although he is still quite a boisterous puppy.
He's crate trained and already knows his basic commands. He LOVES to play and loves his toys. We played with him for nearly an hour and he was a real sweetie.
I think he'd do well in a home (not a yard or a run!) where he would get lots of one-on-one attention, love and exercise.
