My puppy is just about the same age and has similar behaviors for part of the day. He wakes up energized and chews for an hour or more. We do some outings in the car or visit with a neighbor/their dog, which wares him out. He then naps for a long while. After lunch, he is re-energized and into EVERYTHING. His new favorite chew toys are the foot rests built into my new wood chairs (uggg). We're going to try the sour apple spray, but I'm afraid we'll have to coat the entire house with it, including ourselves : ). When he gets in his insatiable chewing mode, we try to keep him busy with his toys or throw the ball for him.
I'm not sure why a puppy would be so thirsty, but I'm sure your vet will help shed some light on that one. My boy enjoys his food, but for some odd reason, barely touched breakfast. I left it out for him longer than usual and then finally tossed it out. I'm not concerned that he ate less at this one meal, but I'll watch to be sure it's not a pattern. He normally seems to love the food (Embark by Honest Kitchen).
I wasn't mentally prepared for the high energy and curiosity of a new puppy. But, he is so sweet and I know some of the mischievousness will pass (with time and our consistent practice of that learned at puppy kindergarten). Good luck to you and yours too!
