The Candy Cane Story
Every year, I put candy canes on my Christmas tree. My hubby and son love to snack on them, and they look so pretty. One night, I was sitting on the couch with hubby, and he opened up a candy cane. It was broken at some spot inside the wrapper, and spilled in crumbs all over the place. Over the holiday season, I was finding candy cane crumbs on the floor, and I told hubby and my son to please be careful, that they were making a mess with the broken candy canes. I couldn't believe that I didn't notice all the broken ones when I was hanging them on the tree. Fast forward to this past Monday. I was taking the tree down, and noticed that most of the candy canes left on the tree were near the top and there wasn't a single one left on the bottom of the tree. So I get it all cleaned up, get the vacuum down to clean up the needles and mess on the floor. Then I decide that I will vacuum the diningroom rug because I haven't done that rug since Christmas. We rarely go in there and I had cleaned it up after everyone left on Christmas. I moved the chairs away from the table, and what do I find but a bunch of candy cane wrappers and crumbs under the chair that sits against the wall. Yes, I have a candy cane thief on my hands. Apparently, in the middle of the night, Wolfie has been helping himself to candy canes off the tree. I am glad that they didn't make him sick or harm him. I will have to remember to keep them out of his reach next year.
