I think I would contact CA GSD rescues and see if they can either
A. Courtesy post her
B. Allow you to foster her while she is listed on their site - that would be the best thing
She would need to be spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm, tick test, etc, but then you would have more exposure, get help with screening and your girl SHOULD have a lifetime place to go if something happens again. Check rescue policies before contacting regarding screening and commitment. For example, Westside GSD Rescue allows people to show pictures of their living space in lieu of a home visit if they are from out of town.
