Just wanted to say Hi and tell my story real quick. My Wife and I just got our 2 boys a 6 month old German shepherd male. He is a big baby already 60lbs and the vet says he is on his way to be 100 lbs. he adjusted and bonded to me very quickly. We picked him up 12/29 and by the next day he could not stand it if I was not in the same room with him. Now for the sad news... not even 24 hours from bringing him home we were outside so he could go potty and a dog barked and spooked him he went to the end of his leash and then jumped straight up in the air doing a back flip. when he did this I heard a POP and he was in a lot of pain. turns out he broke his back leg.... so after x rays and meds he goes in tomorrow for his $2000 operation. they are going to screw and possibly plate the leg. we felt so bad for him... but one of the frustrating things is this happened Sunday night, Monday he was going into the vet for his wellness checkup and I had 30 days of free pet insurance on him that would be activated then. of-course I now have a huge bill and 30 days of insurance that will pay for something else if it happens, but not the pre-existing leg. The only way we could afford to pay for this was with the care credit, and me cancelling a surgery I had scheduled for my foot ( I can live with the pain a while longer I guess) Anyway Max has already been a wonderful addition to our family and we look forward to a long happy life with him. I am just sorry he has to be in pain for a while. on the funny side when we got him out biggest concern was potty training him since we have a 4 year old we are trying to teach him to get up in the night and pee and a 2 year old we are trying to potty train as well. we laugh about that now, and as far as our dog Max He limps to me now to carry him outside every time he needs to go. it did not take him long.
