last night i clipped my dogs nails and snipped one too short and cut the quick. I used quick stop and everything was fine. Today my husband took him in the backyard to play fetch, after 10 mins he brought the dog in because he had a small limp in the same paw. I just put him in his crate to rest. Could he be in pain from the nail i cut or do you think he injured himself playing outside?
i have never had a dog limp due to cutting a nail too short. you may have left a bit of a jagged edge on the nail that he caught on the ground. i would take the "wait and see" approach on this.
If she was tearing around the yard playing fetch, she may have scuffed that same toenail, and that could cause a limp. Chances are it will resolve itself in a short time; I wouldn't expect it to bother a dog for more than a day or so.
