Bella used to do that too when I left her out. She LOVES to be outside by her self now. I think its because every thing is new. New house, new yard, new mom and dad, new TINY sibling its a VERY big ajustment. Give him time to bond and get used to everything. He will probably start to explore the yard soon. Curiosoty will get the better of him and he will check the perimiter in no time. Can't really help with the crate. Bella has always been good in hers never a problem and she had never been in one before I got her. Maybe because I put a fresh cow leg bone in with her to keep her intersted.
