Hey all,
You all have a new official "New Guy". I recently met a breeder in a way that I can only describe as fate. I have been wanting a GSD for a long time now, but a few months ago in my extreme desire to get a puppy, i picked up the first thing i saw.. a boxer. He's totally awesome and wouldnt give him up for the world, but that itch to get a GSD was still in me.
I was at the wonder glorious world of Gander Mountain drooling over a Springfield XDm, when on my way out I was approached by a woman who was trying to offload her last 2 puppies before she had to go through some medical stuff (I wont disclose her situation here as I think its kind of personal). She dropped the price from $1500 to $700, parents are AKC and OFA certified, Imported from germany, and SCH titled. We went that night to her house and met mom and dad and the puppies. Both puppies were beautiful, but had completely opposite temperments (one completely submissive, the other with a strong drive to work). She explained the Sire is co owned by Adam Kuhn in IL, so the bloodlines don't get much better than they are, the bitch is her a dog she imported herself. I threw a deposit down on both of them and returned the next day with my Boxer to let him help me "choose" which puppy we were gonna get. In the end we went for the pup with the stronger work drive as he was able to keep up with my very excited boxer. The docile and submissive pup wanted nothing to do with either of us really, so the choice was simple.
I'm very happy with this, and am going back today to bond some more with him, and figure out a name for him. this weekend we are going down to IL to Adam's place to start on schutzhund training (im taking both dogs, but only want to work the obedience side with my boxer).
