It gets better. I have four, and I still have to remind myself that it does EVENTUALLY get better. My three adults are great. My 9 month old is into EVERYTHING right now. Nothing bad, just completely untrustable when out of eyesight. I adopted him at 8 months, totally untrained, so we have a lot of work to do. Lots and lots of exercise, lots of stimulation for pups (new people, places, things). Tons of toys are good.

Playmates, training classes, they are all good to have in a pups life.

Give her a peanut butter filled kong or a slow kibble release toy (I use kongs myself, but whatever works for you) for when you want some time to yourself and help her learn to entertain herself for a few minutes.

I'd PERSONALLY start ignoring the late night "let me out, I gotta potty" calls. At 5 months, even foster pups I haven't had long are holding it through the night, or at best they may get up once in the middle. This is one of those things where it's going to get worse before it gets better. Your pup will get louder and more upset than you've probably ever heard, the first few times you ignore her, but eventually she will understand that just because she whines doesn't mean you will immediately show up and let her out of her crate.

Never forget: A TIRED puppy is a well behaved puppy.
